As we did last year, First Church is participating in the KIDS ABOVE ALL Back to School Backpack Drive. Each year KIDS ABOVE ALL partners with members of the community, as well as faith, corporate and community partners to make sure the school-aged kids in their programs have what they need to succeed this upcoming year. See the flyer alongside for items needed for all ages.

Or visit the following link to purchase things from their Amazon wish list:

Collection Bins will be in the narthex until August 29.

KIDS ABOVE ALL’s mission is to protect, heal and educate children and families so they can build better lives. They do this through early childhood education, foster care and adoption services, housing for teens and formerly homeless young adults, and counseling. They serve people in Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake counties.

VBS will meet on the church lawn (or in Wesley Hall if the weather is poor) once a week for five weeks, June 9 – July 7 from 5:30-7:00 pm, dinner will be included.  There will be lots of fun activities to help the kids learn about the Creation Story, Moses and the Burning Bush, and other Bible Stories using the Discovery on Adventure Island Cokesbury VBS curriculum. At this point, masks will be required, but we will adjust that rule if the Illinois Department of Public Health changes its policy. The cost for VBS is $15 per child which includes the cost of dinner.

Please sign up for VBS at the following link:  Friends are welcome to join us for the fun! just share the link with them so they can sign up, too. I hope your children can be with us this Summer for Discovery on Adventure Island!
