Please join us on Facebook at 4:00 pm Sunday afternoon on December 6 for the live-streaming of a special service: The Lighting of our new Nativity Scene on the church lawn.
This event is a Christmas fundraiser for
Elmhurst/Yorkfield Food Pantry
The Night Ministry.
Your Christmas gift designated for the Nativity Lighting will be shared equally in support of these essential ministries.
The lighting itself will be at 4:30pm. Please drive-by then or anytime during this season of preparation. Visit our modern crèche which provides a beacon of light for the coming of our Lord.
FIRST CHURCH YOUTH SUPPORT
Connecting Homeless Families to a Better Future
Music Event : Sunday, October 18, 3:00-4:00 pm
As you can imagine, more and more families are in need during this pandemic. Instead of hosting a Pancake Breakfast and sleeping outside in a box on Sleep Out Saturday to raise funds for BRIDGE COMMUNITIES, First Church Youth will be sharing their musical gifts with us via ZOOM and are asking you to consider a donation.
Online donations can be made at:
To attend this special music event on ZOOM, contact Lisa Rogers at firstname.lastname@example.org to SIGN UP and GET THE ZOOM LINK.
WHY DO WE SUPPORT BRIDGE COMMUNITIES?
It provides free transitional housing to more than 100 homeless DuPage County families each year. During a two year program, families are able to save money, learn budgeting skills, and obtain better employment
by working with partners to provide
mentoring, housing, and supportive services.

First Church Youth are preparing to spend the night outside on November 2 and hope that they won’t be pelted with rain or snow during this winter-like weather. Still —- they are committed to supporting Bridge Communities and helping to build awareness of the homeless right here in Elmhurst and throughout DuPage County.
The Youth have already raised funds for this event with a Pancake Breakfast in September. If you weren’t able to attend, please consider supporting through
YOUTH GROUP FUNDRAISER for BRIDGE COMMUNITIES
Pancakes * Sausages * Fruit * Cereal * Toast * Juice * Coffee
All are Welcome on Sunday Morning, September 15, 9:00-10:15 am.
First Church youth will be participating in Bridge Communities’ Sleep Out Saturday event on November 2-3 . This annual event is to raise awareness about homelessness in Du Page County.
The money raised at the Pancake Breakfast will be donated to Bridge Communities to help support their mission to transition homeless families to self-sufficiency by working with partners to provide mentoring, housing, and supportive services.
Donations will be gratefully accepted.
A Beautiful Sunday for a Cookout
- The Youth Group’s Cookout for a Cause on September 23 was a great success. Thanks to the hard work of our young people and the support of our congregation, $709 was raised for Bridge Communities. And everyone enjoyed the barbecue on the church lawn.
- NOTE: The next First Church event to support Bridge Communities will be Sleep Out Saturday on November 3, 2018. The goal is to raise a total of $1500.
If you missed the Cookout, you can donate directly to Bridge Communities on the Elmhurst First United Methodist Church Youth Group page. Here’s the Link:
