The heart of our church is in Sunday worship.
Worship is at 8:10 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. during the non-summer months. Starting Memorial Day (May 29), we will hold a single worship service at 9:30 a.m.
You are invited to coffee and fellowship in Wesley Hall directly across from the sanctuary between services and after 10:25 a.m. worship (or 9:30 a.m. worship in summer).
Our Worship Style
Our worship services are designed to create an environment that brings The Word of God and the teachings of Christ into the hearts and minds of the congregation through drama, art, dance, music, and personal experience. We celebrate time honored traditions, and make new ones with beauty and pageantry. During worship services, we offer a Children’s Word with age-appropriate Bible stories and lessons for children.
Sacrament of Holy Communion
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of every month at both worship services. Our table is open to ALL, including children, whatever your religious background.
Nursery and Child Care
First Church extends a special welcome for families and has a growing population of families with young children who are new to the area. Our church is certified as a United Methodist “Safe Sanctuary” congregation. Nursery care for infants and toddlers is optional, professionally staffed and available throughout Sunday mornings, year-round. A “quiet room” in the back of our church has comfortable rockers for parents of infants. Church School for children and youth is held from 9:15-10:10 a.m. for ages 3 through 12th grade. A Children’s Word is provided during the worship service directly after the scripture reading. Following Children’s Word, young children may choose to remain in the sanctuary for the service, or dismiss to the “Sunshine Room”, a special professionally staffed play area. Children may participate in a relaxed “Joyful Noise Singers” choral group and may opt to sing during worship occasionally as part of this group.
Additionally, the church schedules a number of child-friendly events during the year for fun and fellowship for children and their parents.
