Narcotics Anonymous has a regularly scheduled meeting at First Church on Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm.
Narcotics Anonymous is a 12-step group very similar to Alcoholics Anonymous — only geared to the person who has problems with drugs. We have members that have issues with prescription drugs, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, alcohol (we consider alcohol a drug) and any other mind or mood altering chemicals. Our group has members as young as 15 and as old as 70 and everywhere in between. Our meetings are open to anyone who feels they have a drug problem and wants to do something about it. A person simply comes to the meeting and states they think they have a drug problem and they are welcomed.
If a person wants to sample a meeting and not state that they have a drug problem, “open” meetings are available. Go to www.chicagona.org to check the meeting guide for an “open” meeting in the area.
The meetings at First Methodist are “closed” meetings and can only be attended by drug users and abusers who want anonymous help. Please read more about the program at www.chicagona.org to see if they you would like to try this path to recovery.
