VBS FOOD TRUCK PARTY A HIT

Thank you to all who joined us on June 29th for the VBS Food Truck Party! Over 60 people from our church and the community had tons of fun eating, dancing, playing games, socializing, and celebrating the end of a wonderful month of Vacation Bible School. HUGE THANKS to Jennifer Grisolia for serving as co-leader of VBS, Lilly Sherman for assisting at VBS, Marlene Stratton for feeding us at VBS, Pastor Joe and Mike for helping with set-up, Jack Mathias for being an AMAZING DJ for the event, and Eddie and Liesl Cooke for helping with the games. And thank you to all who helped with the clean up after the event, your help was so appreciated!

And the cherry on top of a super fun evening is that we raised $400 at the event that will be split evenly between the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Northern Illinois Food Bank. During VBS we learned about how God provides for us and asks us to provide for others, so thank you for helping illustrate that lesson to our children with your generosity!!!!

Memorial Day Parade

On May 30th, under blue skies and the perfect summer breeze, First United Methodist Church joined the Elmhurst Memorial Day parade honoring our fallen heroes.  Members of our Bell Choir rode in the back of Bart the truck while playing My Country ‘Tis of Thee for an appreciative crowd.  Our theme, Remembering the Faithful, reminded us of the true measure of devotion these men and women displayed in fighting and dying for our country’s freedom.  Other members of the church walked alongside the truck waving to the crowd, connecting with neighbors and friends, and taking time to thank the veterans who attended the parade.  God bless all those who serve in our military.
