Whether you are considering a visit, wanting to become a member of the congregation, or are a member in need, First Church reaches out with growth opportunities and ministries of support.
Joining First Church
The Member Growth and Care Team connects with visitors and is delighted to work with individuals who are interested in becoming members of First Church. Take a New Member Class to learn more about the United Methodist denomination and our First Church community. For information about the next class, please contact the Church Office.
Caring Ministries
The Team also looks after the special needs of all of our members and coordinates our Caring Ministries. Each of these ministries provide love and support to church members during difficult times as well as times of celebration.
Sunshine Card Ministry. Cards are signed by church members and mailed to those experiencing suffering, loss, or joy.
Grief Ministry. A booklet series, Journeying Through Grief, is sent at intervals throughout the first year following the death of a loved one.
HUGS (Hearts United Giving Service). Volunteers are matched with members who cannot attend church and may include monthly home visits, delivering flowers at Christmas and Easter, and offering homebound Communion.
BeFriender Ministry. BeFriender volunteers are trained to offer a one-on-one listening presence to others during stressful times in their lives.
