Youth (6th through 8th grade) & Confirmation

Confirmation is the continuation of one’s faith journey (a journey begun at Baptism) and the beginning of one’s covenant relationship with the church.

The First Church confirmation program —  held every three years — is for our young people in 6th through 8th grades.  Classes and activities are scheduled from September to May. Parent involvement and worship attendance are required to complete Confirmation.

The next Confirmation Class will begin in September of 2022.  Participants will be confirmed in the spring of 2023.

The previous Confirmation Class received 9 young people into the church in May of 2019.  That class studied the life and message of the apostle Paul and explored the Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, and United Methodist roots of our faith.  The confirmands also engaged in mission projects throughout the year including:  Sleep-Out Saturday (for DuPage P.A.D.S.), Grace Cafe, Youth Breakfast Ministry, and Justice for our Neighbors (an outreach program of the Northern Illinois Conference.)

To reduce the risk of child abuse in the church,  the General Conference of the United Methodist Church adopted a Safe Sanctuaries resolution in 1996. Click Here to see our policy.
